Fundamentals classes: the perfect start

Less than 6 months of experience? Our Grappling Fundamentals classes are designed specifically for beginners. You train without a gi (no-gi) and learn the basics of grappling in a safe environment.

  • Grappling Fundamentals: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 18:00 to 19:00
  • Already have a BJJ or judo gi? You can also join BJJ Fundamentals! Wednesday and Friday at 18:00
  • You learn the basic techniques in a safe, controlled environment

What can you expect?

10 minutes early

Arrive 10 minutes before class. This gives you time to change, explore the gym and ask our team any questions.

Getting changed

Put your shoes in the shoe rack. Always wear flip-flops when off the mat. On the mat, you always train barefoot. You can store your bag in the locker at the back of the dojo.

The class

The coach will guide you through your first jiu-jitsu experience. You learn the basics and practice with another beginner. Always safe and respectful.

Mandatory safety rules

To ensure a safe and hygienic environment for you and your training partners, you must comply with the rules below. If you do not comply, unfortunately, you cannot participate in the lesson.

  • Your nails are trimmed short.
  • You are not wearing jewelry or piercings.
  • You wear slippers when you are not on the mat.
  • On the mat, you always train barefoot.
  • You are present at least 10 minutes before the start of the lesson.
  • You wear a tight-fitting rash guard, T-shirt, or sports shirt that covers your shoulders. Tank tops are not allowed.
  • You wear short sports shorts without pockets or zippers. You may wear leggings underneath, also without pockets or zippers.

What do I bring to Grappling Fundamentals?

Shorts without zippers or pockets, a fitted t-shirt and flip-flops. Optional: a water bottle, towel and shower gel.

Why do I need to bring flip-flops?

BJJ is a contact sport where hygiene is essential. Always wear flip-flops when you step off the mat. On the mat you train barefoot.

Which class should I choose?

Less than 6 months of experience? Choose Grappling Fundamentals (no-gi). Already have a BJJ or judo gi? You can also join BJJ Fundamentals.

Are jewellery and piercings allowed?

No, jewellery and piercings are not allowed during class. Also make sure your nails are trimmed short.

What age is suitable?

The beginners trial class is suitable from age 16. For children and teenagers we have a special kids class.
