4 Tips for parents of BJJ kids
Our kids and teens group is growing larger and is winning prizes more often. Many parents also want their child to get the most out of the BJJ training.
Here are 3 tips to help with that:
1. Let the coach do his/her job
Our coaches have a lot of experience teaching jiu jitsu to various children. Let the coach do his or her job. Instructions from parents on the sidelines cause distraction and confusion.
2. Be positive
Jiu jitsu should be fun. Focus after the training (or match) on the good things, not on the things that went wrong. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
3. Train along once
Training jiu jitsu together is great for the bond between parent and child and helps you as a parent understand better what your child is involved in.
If you want to start, we recommend our Fundamentals classes and/or the introductory course. You can read more about it further down in the newsletter.
4. Find the right method
Some children learn quickly and seek challenges. Then competitions and the competition group are a good idea. Ask the coaches about the possibilities.
Other children learn a bit slower or find it exciting in the group. Then private lessons can be very helpful: https://havenbjj.nl/priveleskids/
