Results AGF & Versus
This weekend 2 local tournaments, with 5 medals for Haven.
On Saturday, AGF was organized in Almere. Maximus, Ayman, Oleg, and Yasin participated.
Maximus had a few nice matches, including 2 submissions, and got to go home with a bronze medal.
Ayman won both of his matches by submission and won gold. In the open class, both youngsters had less success.
Oleg won his first match on points, and his second with a beautiful guillotine. In the gi, he won his first match by submission but lost the final. Gold and silver.
Nick participated in Versus on Sunday and had no less than seven (!) matches. He won six of them by submission and unfortunately lost one by submission. A bronze medal during his blue belt debut, not bad at all.

Avoid the crowds
The school year has started again, and September is often one of the busiest months: we are coming back from vacation and have a lot of training to catch up on.
This can lead to busy classes, especially at 19:00.
Do you want to avoid the crowds, have more personal attention, more space, and a less wet mat? Perfect, then we also have classes at 7:00, 12:00, 20:30 (Tuesday and Thursday), and on the weekend!
Haven BJJ leaves CheckMat
In BJJ, besides your gym, you also represent an international team. Since its inception, Haven BJJ has been part of Team Checkmat. But now it is official:
Haven is no longer part of CheckMat. From now on, we fall directly under The House FC.
For Haven members, practically very little changes. The biggest difference is that we are now officially part of The House FC internationally, the team of Gabriel Rollo and Thiago Abreu (my coaches – Daniël).
Our bond with The House becomes even stronger. At international competitions, we will now register under The House FC and we can approve your IBJJF applications ourselves, which means we no longer have to wait for external approval.
There is no conflict with CheckMat, and we parted ways amicably. They have brought us a lot over the past years, and we are grateful for that. But our loyalty lies with coaches Gabriel and Thiago, as it has been for the past 11 years. That is why we follow their decision to continue independently under The House FC.

In-House Tournament
Do you want to gain experience with competitions? Then we have good news.
On October 11, we will organize our In-House Tournament again.
This is the perfect opportunity for beginners to feel how a tournament goes. The excitement and the rules are just like in real competitions, but in a safe environment.
The tournament is specifically for white and blue belts. You can register here:

European Championship Training Camp
From October 19 to 26, we will prepare together with our friends from The House FC in Santos for the European Championship. The camp is led by coach Thiago Abreu.
Moreover, several European and Brazilian champions will join as guest instructors. There are 12 sessions, spread over 8 days. If you register for the camp, you will also receive an exclusive rashguard. The design will be announced soon.
This camp is for anyone who wants to challenge themselves and reach new physical and mental levels. It is not mandatory to be registered for the European Championship to participate. However, we recommend that you have at least 6 months of experience if you join. Are you in doubt? Then consult with your coach(es).

Wrestling class 26-9 canceled
There will be no wrestling class this coming Saturday. There is a good reason for that: both of our wrestling coaches are unavailable. Coach Daan is on his way to Warsaw where he will do an internship for 6 months (and train a lot at one of the best gyms in Europe), and coach Harry might have an even better reason: he is getting married.
We recommend that you join the grappling class at 12:00, which will go ahead!
