Our house rules and training rules ensure the safe, friendly, and clean environment we want to provide for jiu jitsu practitioners.

House rules

1. Respect

  • Respect each other You cannot get better without your teammates
  • Respect the coach No coaching from the sidelines. Arrive on time and complete the training. Inform the coach before leaving the mat

2. Clean

  • Always barefoot on the mat, never barefoot off the mat
  • Clean and short nails. Clean and appropriate training clothing

3. Safe

  • Let go immediately when someone taps
  • Adjust your intensity to your training partner. Follow the training rules

Training rules

Our training rules are established to create a safe and clean environment for you and your teammates.

Hygiene

  • Nails are short and clean
  • Clean training gear for every training session
  • Always barefoot on the mat, never barefoot off the mat
  • No jewelry, including piercings
  • Do not train if you have a skin infection
  • Cover open wounds

Clothing

  • No zippers or pockets
  • Rashguards must cover the shoulders and armpits
  • Wear a T-shirt or rashguard under your gi
  • No groin protectors

Sparring

  • Let go immediately when someone taps
  • Apply submissions in a slow and controlled manner
  • Gi training: IBJJF rules apply; follow the rules of the lowest belt
  • Nogi training: all leg locks allowed from blue belt and higher
  • No slams
  • No jumping attacks
  • Do not pull your training partner backwards over their heels
  • Adjust your intensity to the size and level of your training partner
  • Be aware of your surroundings: safety comes before winning
