For people with no grappling experience, we have our introductory course created.

Yes, BJJ is one of the safest martial arts for children. Unlike sports like kickboxing or karate, there is no striking or kicking in BJJ. The emphasis is on control, technique, and groundwork.
Our kids“ classes are taught by experienced coaches who prioritize the safety of each child. We also teach children to spar responsibly and to ”tap out" in time.
BJJ focuses on ground fighting and control, while judo focuses on throws and karate on strikes and kicks. In BJJ, children learn how to safely control an opponent without striking or kicking.
This makes BJJ particularly suitable for children: they learn self-defense in a way that they can safely apply on the playground if necessary.
BJJ gives children confidence, resilience, and the ability to stand up for themselves — without using violence. Children learn to set boundaries, stay calm under pressure, and defend themselves when needed.
Additionally, they build friendships with other children at Haven BJJ, which enhances their social skills. Many parents see a positive change in their child's confidence after just a few weeks.
Yes! Haven BJJ regularly participates in kids' tournaments in the Netherlands and Belgium. Competitions are not mandatory, but for children seeking an extra challenge, it is a great experience.
We prepare children well for their first competition, and our coaches are always present to guide them. Through our private lessons for kids we can further intensify the match preparation. Please consult with the coach before registering your child for a match.
